*** Spoiler Alert ***Well that was a depressing story. So first of all, the heroine is no heroine in my opinion. She hunts dragons and kills them with her father (even when the dragons are old and begging for mercy). Second, she wants to kill Ryan and is still considering killing him even after she has sex with him and he makes her his fire mate. Third, for the vast majority of the book, she's confused about everything and when her father confronts her and Ryan, she tries to protect her father instead of Ryan. So Ryan (and her) both end up with crossbow bolts in their shoulders. And then she shoves Ryan out a window. Sure, afterwards Ryan says he gets that she pushed him out of the window to protect him from her father, but that's not why she did it. She did it because she felt she needed to kill him, but was conflicted and she panicked. Not a very stellar mate if you ask me.
And then she goes off the deep end and puts a crossbow bolt through her fathers face, which he somehow "miraculously" survives, and then later he tracks her and Ryan down and she ends up killing her father as he shoots an arrow at her. And then even though Ryan and Deanne's relationship is totally messed up, and she's just killed her father (and found out her father killed her mother when she was a baby), they just kind of gloss over most of it and then the book ends. In the last couple of paragraphs, she says she's going to need dragon therapy and he says he and the dragon community will support her because she's family now, but in all honesty, she never really shows remorse for killing any of them, so why would any of the dragons forgive her and accept her into the fold?
Fourth, there's no tigress. The "tigress" part in the title was just put in there to confuse things and make readers wonder. And fifth, their relationship doesn't really even involve love or friendship. I think at some point, he says he loves her, but I don't think she ever says it back.

This is the first Lexxie Couper Paranormal book that I have read and I was totally enthralled with it. Maybe I need to go back and read the first two in the series. It was fun, yet mysteries then hot and cold. Ryan knew who/what he needed and Deanna just refused to believe him which made for an interesting read.
He’s in the USA … visiting different cities, enjoying their wares, getting his jollies and staying away from all the drama in Australia. Ryan is just biding his time, looking for fun and never, ever intending on finding his Fire Mate. But, one sniff, one touch and he’s a goner.
Unfortunately, he’s not really sure what to expect or just how hard it would be to not take this woman, fly away with her and indulge in the 12 hours of sex his dragon is demanding he take. Then there is the fact that she refuses to admit she’s a dragon and keeps running away from him.
Deanna has one mission in mind. Exterminate all dragons, especially the one that she’s been mercilessly hunting with her father. Not only is he elusive but he turns her on immensely. She’s an Extraho Venator, trained to kill these hideous anomalies. She refuses his claims that she is also a dragon, she refuses his lust fueled advances and draws him out for the kill. Luckily, she starts to doubt everything that she was raised on and starts questioning the one person who she trusted all her life. As he evades the questions, as her speed and strength grow and her feelings for Ryan increase, she has no choice to entertain the idea that she was born a dragon but never shifted, never knew.
Ryan and Deanna are volatile together. But, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Lexxie Couper. This story was quick and to the point. It was interesting and entertaining. It’s fun to go into a real make-believe story every now and then and CTHD was a great story to just sit by the pool, relax and read. The perfect story, for the perfect day … the sun, the pool, a cool drink and a good book. Lexxie Couper made it easy with CTHD to just sit back and have fun with a good book.

Loved reading this book! A story full of conflict and surprises. If you enjoy reading about dragons romance this is the one? You will not be disappointed in anyway and highly recommended.
Wow this one is a tough on to review...oh, the spoilers (no spoilers here, but how to review around the spoilers?!!?).
I love the Fire Mates series, the Mate Fire that has a 12 hr deadline else...you just don't want to love.
Lexxie writes amazing characters & has wonderful worlds that she builds - Fire Mates is not an exception to this rule.
This story has quite a few twists & turns but we still have our HEA, else it wouldn't be in the Romance genre. Ryan thinks Deanna is dragon but Deanna says she's not - who's right?? Buy this story & find out!
